Aquinas Chess Club News

Aquinas Chess Club played matches against Hutchinson’s Chess Club members on December 14th.

The following students participated in this event; Caroline Czarnecki and Luke Vukmaravich (second grade), Ethan Bailey, James Cullen, Nick Korziara, Maxwell Marlatt, Sean Palicic, Trent Stead, and Rocco Valore (fourth grade), Sean Newhouse (sixth grade), and Becky Seamans (seventh grade).  Each student played 2 or 3 matches.  Aquinas dominated the win column.

Future events for the club include a return visit to Hutchinson in February, a possible meeting with St. Sebastian’s Chess Club located in Belle Vernon, the Westmoreland County Library Tournament at the Murrysville Library, and the Allegheny County Library Tournament located at the Monroeville Library.

NOTE: Participation in the Aquinas Academy chess club is open to all interested students in third through eighth grades. Details regarding after school meeting dates and times will be available in September of each academic year.
