Athletic programs offered at Aquinas Academy

 

FALL

 

Diocesan Girls Basketball (Grades 4-8): Aquinas Academy girls will have the opportunity to participate in the diocesan CYO basketball program. The fall season is scheduled from August to November.  Aquinas Academy will compete against teams from the Diocese of Greensburg, which include parishes and other schools. The varsity girls teams will have the opportunity to compete and play in the diocesan State Tournament, which is held in March.

 

WPIAL Football (Boys – Grades 7-8): Aquinas Academy is in partnership with area diocesan schools, which make up the Greensburg Central Catholic Middle School Football Program. This program is under WPIAL guidelines. The season is scheduled from August to October. There is an eight game schedule with this program.

 

WPIAL Soccer (Boys and Girls – Grades 6-8): This coed team plays an independent schedule against teams in the WPIAL. The season is scheduled from August to October. Practice and conditioning begins during the middle of August each season.

 

Diocesan Cheerleading (Grades 6-8): The Aquinas Academy cheerleading program begins in the fall and continues through the winter season with boys basketball and school activities. Girls in sixth through eighth grade may participate in this program. Sporting events, pep assemblies and school activities are the major events for this program.

 

WINTER

 

Diocesan Boys Basketball (Grades 4-8): Aquinas Academy boys will have the opportunity to participate in the diocesan CYO basketball program. The winter season is scheduled from November to March.  Aquinas Academy will compete against teams from the Diocese of Greensburg, which include parishes and other schools. The varsity boy’s team will have the opportunity to compete and play in the diocesan State Tournament, which is held in March.

 

Diocesan Cheerleading (Grades 6-8): This program will continue from the fall season and end during the month of April.

 

SPRING

 

Diocesan Girls Volleyball (Grades 4-8): Aquinas Academy girls will have the opportunity to participate in the diocesan CYO volleyball program. The spring season is scheduled from March to May. Aquinas Academy will compete against teams from the Diocese of Greensburg, which include parishes and other schools. The varsity girl’s team will conclude the season with the diocesan tournament.

 

Athletic Physicals

 

All Aquinas Academy students participating in a diocesan CYO sports or WPIAL sports are required to have a physical completed prior to the start of the season. All physicals must be dated after July 1 of that particular school year. Physicals must be completed by a licensed physician only.
